JKJ Summer Camps is an independent team of Montessori teachers (Jack, Kayla, and Jake) who collaborate to provide fun, engaging, and imaginative outdoor summer camps for children. All of our camps incorporate physical movement, team-building, play, imagination, problem-solving, and storytelling. Our work with children is rooted in the Montessori values of independence, self-regulation, and connection. We care deeply about providing a safe and fun environment for children to explore their natural creativity through nature, fantasy, games, and storytelling.
Jack
Hello there! I’m Jack, one of the instructors here at JKJ Summer Camps!
I am a Montessori-trained teacher with seven years of experience working in Montessori classrooms. I enjoy working with students to support their learning, growth, and independence, both academically and socially.
I also have a strong passion for theater, and have been performing in and directing plays since middle school. I love the power theater has to connect people, encourage collaboration, and celebrate storytelling.
This passion for collaborative storytelling also fuels my interest in fantasy and science fiction, especially roleplaying games such as Dungeons and Dragons. I have been playing games like this for years, and enjoy sharing them in an age-appropriate way with children.
I’m excited to combine all these skills and passions to create a fun and memorable experience for our campers this summer!
Kayla
Hello! My name is Kayla and I am delighted to be one of the camp instructors at JKJ summer camps!
I have worked in Montessori elementary classrooms for 4 years. I am also certified in "Montessori Movement" through Montessori Wellness, and have taught PE to Montessori students for the past three years. I enjoy helping children discover their potential through Montessori education to bring peace, awareness and change to our world.
I have over 28 years of dance experience in all styles of dance, including ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, musical theatre, lyrical, contemporary, and modern! I have a dance minor from Western Washington University. I have been teaching dance for 5 years now, and really enjoy bringing children together through movement.
I look forward to teaching musical theater dances to your children this summer, in a fun, supportive environment!
Jake
Hey! My name is Jake and I’m an educator and performer with over a decade of experience working in both Montessori and Public Schools. I have an extensive background in film, theater and music performance and attended WWU for my B. Ed. in Special Education and Disability Advocacy.
I am currently the Drama and Music teacher at Cedar Tree Montessori, and I strive to bring energy, enthusiasm, and a deep love for storytelling, music, and performance into every lesson.
This will be my third year leading summer camps with Jack and Kayla, and as a verified Pokemon Mastermand Star Wars aficionado I couldn’t be more excited for what we have planned this year!
Whether we’re putting on a play, choreographing a dance, or diving into a galaxy far, far away, I’m dedicated to making this summer one to remember!
